A cactus-like succulent spurge from the East Indies with heavy spines. The branching treelike plant has many arms all reaching upward like candelabra. New growth is lighter in hue, giving each plant two tones of green at one time. A streaked white band marks the center of every branch.

Watering: Soil should remain completely dry for days, and then watered lightly.
African Milk Tree or Euphorbia Trigona Rubra is a unique plant that is an upright growing cactus-like succulent with red/green stems with the new growth in small red leaves. Water thoroughly when the soil surface feels dry to the touch throughout the growing season. Keep the soil evenly most but not overly wet. Allow it to dry out completely between waterings.Water every two weeks in the warm growing season and every month in the winter. A moisture meter will help you decide when to water. This plant exudes a poisonous white sap when cut or broken. African milk tree needs to be grown where the temperatures are no lower than 50 degrees Fahrenheit. You can grow it outside in the summer but make sure you bring it into the warmth when the temperature begins to drop.
