The Chin Cactus or Gymnocalycium Baldianum is native to Argentina. It is a dark green, semi flattened globular species that gives it the appearance of a chin, with spines along shallow ribs. It blooms in spring to early summer. Its flowers are funnel shaped and form at the end of spherical stems that can be up to 5″ in length, while the flowers are 1’5″ in diameter. Flowers are a range of colors from white, light pink, red, hot pink, coral or salmon. It reaches a height of 4″.
Cactus plants are among the hardiest, most drought-tolerant in the world and very easy to maintain.
Drought tolerant when established. Provide partial to full sunlight, well draining soil and water thoroughly when soil is dry. Can tolerate some frost if kept dry, but best to protect to avoid scarring. Create your own terrarium or centerpiece using ever-popular cactus as the focal point.
