Agave lophantha ‘Quadricolor’ organic is a beautiful small agave that forms a colorful rosette that can grow up to 40 cm tall and 60 cm wide. It has thick, leathery striped leaves of light to dark green and golden yellow edges with reddish spines on the side. It is native to Mexico, where it thrives in full sun to partial shades and is extremely drought tolerant.
Growing them in hot and dry conditions is their happy place. It is a lovely addition to your rock garden. Growing them is easy and doesn’t need much attention once established.
You can grow them in USDA Hardiness Zones 8-11. Allow the soil to dry before watering them, and make sure there is excellent drainage to prevent root rot. You can propagate them via offsets.
Fertilizing them once a month during their growing season using a slow-release fertilizer will help them grow into a healthy ones.
