Rex Begonia Vine (Cissus discolor) is a beautiful vining plant with striking leaves that catch plant enthusiasts’ eyes. It has gorgeous heart-shaped and tri-colored leaves of dark green with silver patterns and red undersides that love to climb on a trellis or in a hanging basket where they cascade down their foliage. It can grow up to 6-8 feet tall and 1 foot wide.
It is native to the tropical climate of Southeast Asia, where it thrives in bright indirect light, well-drained soil, and warm and humid environments. Avoid exposing them to direct sunlight as it can burn their leaves. It is a lovely addition to your collection of plants, especially if you have it displayed in a beautiful pot.
Allow the soil to dry before watering them, and make sure there is an excellent draining hole to prevent root rot. Fertilizing them once a month during their growing season from spring, summer, and fall using a balanced liquid fertilizer will help them produce more leaves and grow healthy. The best way to propagate them is via stem cuttings.
You can grow them in USDA Hardiness Zone 11 at 40- 50 degrees F.
